Titan Volleyball Run in NCAA Regional Ends in Four-Set Loss to Aurora

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The No. 11-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University volleyball team had their 22-game winning streak snapped and their deepest advancement into the NCAA Division III tournament than any in school history was thwarted in a four-set loss to Aurora University in the Regional Final at the University of Chicago's Ratner Center on Sunday, Nov. 11.

The Titans lost by scores of 14-25, 25-22, 21-25, 18-25 and saw their season end with a 27-6 record. The Spartans advance to the NCAA final round next weekend in Pittsburgh with an 26-8 mark.

Senior Rachel Burkman led the Titans with 14 kills while senior Tyler Brown added 12 and had a team-high 20 digs.

Senior Maddie Williams had five kills and tied Burkman and senior Heidi Dague with three blocks. Senior Leah Seielstad and freshman Madi Corey each had 19 assists with freshman Amber Juarez making 12 digs and Seielstad eight.

The Spartans had a .222 hitting percentage with 60 kills in 153 tries and 26 errors while the Titans managed a .180 hitting mark with 42 kills and 18 errors in 150 attempts. Aurora had five service aces to one for IWU..
