BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Four missed free throws in the final half minute of the game proved costly as the No. 12-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team dropped a 77-76 decision to the No. 7 ranked University of Chicago in the season opener at the Shirk Center on Sunday, Nov. 11.
Illinois Wesleyan had three players score in double figures, led by the 21 points of junior
Sydney Shanks. Senior
Ashley Schneider scored 14 points and sophomore
Raven Hughes came off the bench to score 11.

Maddie Merritt had a team-high six rebounds with Shanks, Schneider and Hughes each grabbing five as the Titans were outrebounded 38-30.
Taylor Lake had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead Chicago, who improved to 2-0, with Miranda Burt adding 16 points.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan plays Wartburg College at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in the Cornell College tournament in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Titans will play Cornell the next night.
