BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A goal with 1:38 to play in the first overtime period sent the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team to a 3-2 loss to North Park University on Monday, Oct. 8, at IWU's Neis Field.
The game was to have been played on Saturday, Oct. 6, but was postponed due to wet field conditions.
The loss makes the Titan record 8-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings improved to 9-2-0 and 3-1-0 in the CCIW.
IWU opened the scoring with a goal from
Mason Maier on an assist from senior
Ben Nielsen at the 14:46 mark. North Park's Shatil Khoury tied the match at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal at 30:40.
Maier scored his sixth goal of the season with a throw-in assist from Nielsen at 49:32 but the Vikings' Peder Olsen tied the issue at 2-2 at 77:58 on an assist to Khoury.
Olsen scored the game-winner at 98:22 with an assist by Erik Lundeen.
North Park led in shots, 14-8, and Titan junior keeper
Alex Ruckstaetter made two saves.

Illinois Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, with a 7 p.m. road game at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
