DECATUR, Ill. – Junior
Orion Marty's goal, his first of the season, with 14 seconds left in the first overtime period, gave the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
With their second straight win, the Titans improved to 10-5-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while Millikin is now 8-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league.
Senior
Mason Maier scored IWU's first goal to tie the game at 1-1 at 61:59 on an unassisted tally. The Big Blue had grabbed the lead early with a goal in the 11th minute by Patrick Dolan.
Junior
Alex Ruckstaetter made six saves in the 99:46 as Millikin outshot the Titans, 20-19, but IWU held an 8-7 edge in shots on goal.
What's Next?
IWU faces the Elmhurst Bluejays at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Elmhurst. The Bluejays are 4-13 overall and 2-5 in CCIW action.
