2018 CCIW Women's Tennis Championships Results
MOLINE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan University senior
Sam Robinson will play on Saturday for third place at No. 6 singles and two doubles teams advanced to the consolation semifinals at the 2018 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's tennis championships, played at the Quad Cities Tennis Centre in Moline, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 19.
After losing to Augustana's Kalli Majewski, 6-2, 6-1, Robinson defeated North Central's Tiffany Smolik, 8-5, to advance to the third place match Saturday against Wheaton's Bethany Hoogerheide.
The No. 2 doubles team of
Sofia Pinheiro and
Rebecca Rochacz lost 8-1 to No. 2 seed Sara Magnuson and Nicole Freeman of Wheaton College and will play Elmhurst's Rachel Rettger/ Kathryn Wheeler in a consolation semifinal.
IWU's No. 3 doubles team of
Alessia Girardin and
Kayleigh Ruffolo lost 8-5 to Alena Hinch and Madeline Delano of Millikin University and will play a consolation semifinal against North Central's Katie McGraw and Tiffany Smolik on Saturday.
After the second day, IWU is in fifth place with nine points. Augustana College is in first with 51 points, followed by Wheaton College with 43 and Carthage College in third with 28. Play concludes on Saturday.
