Titans Shut Down Kenyon In 4-0 Romp

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 on the season following a 4-nil victory over Kenyon College on Sunday, September 3. Freshman Cameron Hindel finished the game with three points for IWU, scoring her third goal of the season in the 6th minute of action and assisting on a goal by sophomore Jordan Ellerbrock in the 56th minute.

With a win the Titans improved to 2-0-0 on the season while Kenyon fell to 0-2-0 in 2017. This was the first ever meeting between the two sides.

Hindel opened the scoring for IWU, slotting home her lone shot of the day off a loose ball in front of Kenyon's goalkeeper. Just two matches into her career at Illinois Wesleyan, Hindel has recorded seven points (three goals, one assist).

Illinois Wesleyan put two more shots on goal in the first half before sophomore Kaitlyn Chen scored her first goal of the season off an assist from freshman Anna Eager. Eager found Chen at the top of the box for a straight-on look at the goal.

Eager continued her solid play in the second half, wasting no time getting the Titans back in the scoring colum. Freshman Kailie Novak found Eager who placed the ball in the upper left corner of the goal.

Ellerbrock scored the final goal of the contest in the 56th minute after Hindel's cross allowed her to tip the ball in on the near post.

Senior Alyssa Dorning, junior Rosie Pettenuzzo, sophomore Shannon Gatehouse, and freshman Megan O'Neal and Elizabeth Bouseman tallied shots on goal.

The Titan defense held the Ladies to seven shots and four shots on goal. Freshman Kelli McCarthy made two saves in goal during her 70:29 of action, while freshman Kim Seper matched her with two saves in 19:31. Kenyon's Hannah Petrich made five saves, but allowed all four of IWU's goals.
