ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team was defeated by University of Rochester on Friday, September 1, by a final score of 2-0. Each team placed three shots on goal during the second game of the Flower City Classic.
With a loss the Titans fall to 0-1-0 on the season, while Rochester improves to 1-0-0 in 2017.
IWU was led in shots by freshman
Keagan James who was making his debut for the Titans. James finished the game with three shots and two shots on goal. Sophomore
Orion Marty recorded the Titans other shot on goal and finished the game with two total shots.
Rochester's Geoffrey Rouin opened the scoring in the 33rd minute on a low header from Cristian Baltier on the right wing. The Yellowjackets scored early-on in the second half to increase their lead to two. Alex DiPerna secured a loose ball in the 62nd minute and tapped it in to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore
Alex Ruckstaetter allowed two goals and made one save on three shots faced. Rochester's Redd Brown made two saves while allowing no goals.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will look to bounce back at the Flower City Classic against St. John Fisher College on September 2, 2017. The Cardinals (1-0-0) defeated Misericordia University by a final score of 2-0 on Friday.
