BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The No. 23-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team split day two of their home tournament on Sunday, April 9, defeating Buena Vista by a score of 11-3 in five innings prior to falling against DePauw by a 5-2 mark. Junior 
Maggie Graham led the team with four RBI over the course of both games on Sunday.
 
The Titans' record is 17-7 overall. Buena Vista fell to 13-10 with the loss and DePauw improved to 8-14.
 
In game one, the Titans used a seven-run second inning to put themselves in position for the game halted by the run-rule in the fifth inning.
 
Sophomore 
Jillian Runyon was 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, scored three runs and had two runs batted in. In the big second inning, freshman shortstop 
Sam Berghoff smacked a two-run home run and rightfielder 
Maggie Graham had a three-run home run to centerfield.
 
Junior leftfielder 
Stephanie Prentice had two hits in the game and freshman designated hitter 
Sydney Alery provided two RBI.
 
Sophomore 
Taylor Marvin (6-2) was the winning hurler, allowing only two earned runs on seven hits with three walks in five innings. Buena Vista's Keely Bycroft was tagged with the loss after she gave up five hits and five earned runs in 1 2/3 innings pitched.
 
IWU struck first in game two as Graham drove home Alery on a single to leftfield in the first inning. DePauw knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fifth, the first of five unanswered runs for the Tigers.
 
The Titans made a comeback effort in the top of the seventh scoring one run on a single to rightfield by freshman 
Shelby Fulk. Fulk was 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two. Illinois Wesleyan stranded the bases loaded in the seventh and 12 runners overall in game two.
 
Gabby Smart and Megan Montgomery were each 2-for-2 against the Titans in game two. Lauren Godden led the Tigers with two RBI.
 
Freshman 
Brea Walker (5-2) was the losing pitcher in game two after allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings pitched. Brook Bandy (3-8) earned the victory allowing one earned run on five hits and two walks over four innings pitched.
 
What's Next?
The Titans continue play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on Wednesday, April 12, with a trip to Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. Millikin holds a record of 21-9 this season. First pitch of the double-header is set for 4 p.m.
