WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team again took advantage of the wind blowing out and seven Pioneers errors in a blow-out 16-0 win at Carroll University on Sunday, April 9 in Waukesha, Wis.
The three-game sweep, in which IWU outscored the Pioneers 69-20, gives Illinois Wesleyan a 13-7 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, tied for first place with North Central.
Carroll is 5-17 overall and 1-7 in the CCIW.
Senior catcher
Pat Mollo went 4-for-4 with three home runs and five runs batted in. Junior second baseman
Gino Cavalieri, who led off the game with a home run, had three runs batted in, and senior shortstop
Jarrod Juskiewicz had two hits with a first inning homer and four RBI.
Sophomore
Jonathan Broadbear also had two hits and two runs batted in.
Junior starting pitcher
Matt Banaitis went five strong shutout innings, allowing only two hits and retiring 12 Pioneers in a row during one stretch.
Senior
Nick Huskisson and junior
Ian McGinnis also pitched one scoreless inning each in the run-rule shortened game.

Illinois Wesleyan continues CCIW play with a single game at North Park in Chicago at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 11. The Titans play at Illinois State in the renewal of the Horenberger-Bass Classic on Wednesday, then hosts home conference doubleheaders on Friday (North Park at 3 p.m.) and Saturday (Elmhurst at 1 p.m.).
