KENOSHA, Wis. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team fell to Carthage College on Saturday, April 8 by a final score of 13-11. IWU made a strong comeback effort in the second half after trailing 9-2 at halftime.
With a loss, the Titans fell to 8-3 overall with a 2-1 record in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), while Carthage improved to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW.
Trailing by a score of 9-2 at halftime, the Titans would go on to outscore Carthage 9-4 in the second half which includes a 5-2 advantage in the fourth period.
Senior's
Evan Mok-Lamme and
Michael Julius led the team in scoring on Saturday, with four and three goals respectively. Also in the goal column for IWU were freshman
Christian Torres (2), senior Adam Menedez (1), and freshman
Alex Doorenbos (1). Each of Doorenbos and senior's
Tim Smith and
Jacob Perry tallied an assist to tie for the team lead.
Sophomore
J.C. Grabarek was held to 8-of-21 on face-off attempts and five ground balls on Saturday, his second-lowest output of the season. Senior
Max Porter tied for the team lead in ground balls with five and led the team with two caused turnovers.
Senior
Steven Laduzinsky made 13 saves on 44 shots faced on Saturday.
The Red Men held a 44-29 shot advantage over the Titans including a 26-21 advantage on shots on goal. IWU's defense was successful in holding the Red Men to a .56 clearing percentage (9-of-16).

Illinois Wesleyan continues CCIW play at home against Augustana College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12. The Vikings currently hold a record of 5-6.
