ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- After Saturday's game was postponed, the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team dropped back-to-back contests at Washington University in St. Louis on March 26. IWU dropped game one 14-1 prior to falling 5-2 in the second half of the doubleheader.

With a pair of losses, the Titans will open play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin next week with an overall record of 7-6. WashU. improved to 12-5 on the season after Sunday's games.

In game one the Titans were on the wrong end of an offensive barrage, falling 14-1 in seven innings. The Bears tallied 10 runs in the third inning to take control after the score previously stood at 1-1 after two innings.

John Bosco drove home the lone run in the second, plating senior
Jarrod Juskiewicz on a single up the middle. For the Bears, each of Christian Santos and John Brinkman recorded three RBI.

Jim O'Brien pitched two scoreless innings, striking out two and allowing two hits. For WashU., starter Brad Margolin held the Titans to five hits over seven innings.

The Bears scored five unanswered runs to close out the game, scoring two in the fourth and three in the eighth inning. Ted Daley led WashU. with two RBI.

Sean Coonan drew a no decision following a performance of 6 1/3 innings where he allowed five hits and two earned runs while striking out two. Jake Mintz earned the win for WashU., pitching 1 2/3 innings of relief allowing no hits and striking out one.

Illinois Wesleyan opens CCIW play next weekend with a three-game set against Carthage College. The Titans and Red Men have a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 1, and a single-game on Sunday, April 2 at 12 p.m.
