DELAWARE, Ohio – A goal by senior
Michael Julius with 17 seconds remaining gave the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team a 19-18 come-from-behind win over No. 13-ranked Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio, at Selby Stadium on Wednesday, March 1.
The Titans improved to 2-1 this season while Ohio Wesleyan, ranked No. 13 in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division III coaches poll, fell to 2-2.
The Titans and Bishops were tied 4-4 after one quarter and Ohio Wesleyan took an 11-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. But the Titans went on a 5-1 scoring drive to tie the game at 12-12 with 11:33 remaining in the third quarter. The game was tied again at 15, 16, 17, and finally at 18-18 after an OWU goal by Trent Schulte with 1:33 remaining. IWU got two shots at the net before Julius had the winning goal, his 11th goal of the year.

James Maibuecher scored six goals with one assist to pace Illinois Wesleyan while senior
Jacob Perry added four goals. Senior
Tim Smith had three goals, as did Julius (including the game-winner), and sophomore
Will Rossi had two goals.
Sophomore
J.C. Grabarek won 27 of 41 faceoffs to provide the Titans with possession and had a team-high 16 ground balls as IWU had 34 to 26 for the Bishops.
Senior
Steven Laduzinsky made 15 saves as Ohio Wesleyan fired off 48 shots to 47 for IWU. Conor Caffrey led the Bishops with six goals and an assist.

Illinois Wesleyan will begin its three-game spring break trip with a game on Sunday, March 12, in Bel Air, Md., against St. Mary's College of Maryland at 2 p.m. (Eastern).
