IWU Women to Chicago, Men at Home in Wednesday Hoop Action

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan women's and men's basketball teams play College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin games on Wednesday, Feb. 8, with the women traveling to Chicago to face North Park at 7 p.m. and the men entertaining the Elmhurst Bluejays at the Shirk Center at 7 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

THE GAME: The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team (13-6, 8-2 CCIW) travels to Chicago to face North Park University (11-10, 4-8 CCIW) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.
 
TITAN WOMEN'S HOOP NOTES: IWU has won four straight and nine of the last 10 ... IWU is eighth of 440 NCAA D-III teams in scoring (79.1), 13th in turnovers forced per game (24.85) and 8th in turnover margin (8.75) ... Molly McGraw is No. 14 all-time at IWU with 1,077 career points (70 games). Just ahead of her is Melissa Gardner with 1,086 points (122 games, 2009-13). The all-time record is 1,632 by Traci Butler (102 games, 1992-96) ... Rebekah Ehresman ranks No. 33 in scoring (815), No. 21 in 3-pointers (72), No. 17 in free throws (191), No. 29 in rebounds (397) and No. 18 in assists (205) ... Amanda Kelly ranks No. 14 in the nation for assist-to-turnover ratio (2.36). Ehresman is right behind Kelly ranking No. 18 for assist-to-turnover ratio (2.23).
 
ABOUT THE VIKINGS: North Park enters Wednesday's action with an overall record of 11-10. The Vikings had a 7-3 record before Christmas and are 4-7 since then ... Their offense ranks 60th in the nation (71.9) while their defense ranks 265th (65.0)…  Liz Rehberger is the Vikings' leading scorer with 19.9 points per game and ranks No. 35 in the nation for scoring. She has scored 30+ points in three games this year and had 38 points against Elmhurst on Jan. 28 ... Amani Davis facilitates to Rehberger and her teammates, averaging 3.9 assists per game. Davis also ranks No. 7 in the nation for assist-to-turnover ratio (2.66) … North Park has won three of their last four in the CCIW, defeating North Central, Carroll and Millikin.
 
COACHES: Illinois Wesleyan's Mia Smith is in her 19th season and has an overall record of 360-155 (.699) with a CCIW mark of 192-71 (.730) ... Amanda Crockett is in her ninth season at North Park, holding a career record of 94-126.
 
THE SERIES: The Titans are 50-13 all-time against North Park, with their last victory coming on Jan. 11 by a final score of 93-54. North Park was without starters Rehberger and Davis during that contest … IWU has won 26 straight games against the Vikings.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Illinois Wesleyan travels to Kenosha, Wis. to face Carthage College on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL

THE GAME: The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team (14-6, 6-5 CCIW) hosts Elmhurst College (6-15, 2-10 CCIW) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington.
 
POLLING PLACE: From the CCIW, Augustana (17-4) is ranked No. 20 and North Park (15-5) is ranked No. 22 in this week's D3hoops.com poll. Among other IWU opponents, Washington U. (17-3) is No. 5 and Middlebury (18-3) is No. 13.
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN: IWU is 41st of 416 D-III schools with a +9.4 scoring margin, 35th with 9.6 3-pointers/game and 40th in fewest turnovers (239) ... With 444, Trevor Seibring is 31st at IWU in career rebounds, 41st with 229 free throws and 35th with a .700 career FT percentage... Andy Stempel is 21st all-time with 89 3-pointers, Brady Rose is 31st (69) and Nick Coleman and Alec Bausch are tied for 40th (45)... Stempel is 37th with 133 career assists and Bausch is 45th all-time with 389 rebounds... SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS: Elmhurst is out to snap a four-game losing streak after posting an 87-78 win over North Central on Jan. 21...The Bluejays are 65th of 416 D-III teams with a +4.6 rebound margin. Allowing 83.3 points places Elmhurst 379th nationally...Derek Dotlich has led Elmhurst in scoring the last five games, averaging 20.0 during the stretch...The Bluejays lost to Carthage 93-91 in OT on Feb. 1, a game they led by 21 (61-40) with 13:11 to play.
 
COACHES: Illinois Wesleyan's Ron Rose is in his 11th season and has a 203-101 overall mark (.669) with a CCIW ledger of 95-56. Rose is third in wins at IWU, behind Dennie Bridges (667-319, 1965-01) and Jack Horenberger (264-212, 1945-65). He got his 200th career win at home vs. Wheaton on Jan. 7 ... A member of the 1997 IWU national championship team, John Baines has a 62-41 record (27-27 CCIW) in his fourth season at Elmhurst. He had a 57-38 record in three years at NAIA St. Francis in Joliet.
 
THE SERIES: Dating back to 1946, IWU leads the series vs. the Bluejays, 106-24. The Titans have won 16 of the last 24 meetings, including an 88-57 win at Elmhurst on Dec. 10.
 
HOME COOKING: Illinois Wesleyan is 9-1 at home this year and has a 22-year Shirk Center record of 249-43 (.852) ... In the past six years (2009-17), IWU is 89-14 at home.
