BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's basketball teams will be have home games this weekend against quality, nationally-recognized competition with the women hosting Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday and the men hosting No. 11-ranked Washington U. on Sunday.

THE GAME: The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team (7-1) hosts No. 11-ranked Washington U.-St. Louis (7-1) at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Shirk Center.

ABOUT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN: Of 416 teams, IWU is 35th in D-III stats with 10.5 3-pointers per game, 27th in scoring (87.9) and No. 3 with a 1.68 assist/turnover ratio. The Titans are fifth with just 10.0 turnovers per game ... Jaylen Beasley is 36th in the nation with 7.25 defensive rebounds per game ... Brady Rose is No. 20 all-time at IWU with 99 3-point field goals, just behind Paul Petersen with 102 (110 games, 1984-88).

HOME COOKING: Illinois Wesleyan is 3-1 at home this season and has a 22-year Shirk Center record of 254-45 (.852) ... In the past six years (2009-17), IWU is 94-16 at home.

SCOUTING THE BEARS: The Bears are No. 11 in the current D3hoops.com poll ... WashU has wins over Wabash, Tufts, Principia, Ohio Northern, Alma, Central (IA) and got a 14-0 run midway through the second half to break open a three-point game in a 98-68 win at Fontbonne Tuesday. The Bears scored 58 second half points with 10 3-pointers. WashU had season-highs of 56.7 percent from the field and 28 assists ... The Bears' lone loss came at Mt. St. Joseph, 94-76 ... Andrew Sanders is the UAA men's basketball athlete of the week for the second straight week. Sanders had 29 points and 14 rebounds vs. Central, his 14th career double-double. He is 31 points shy of 1,000 for his career ... WashU was 21-6 last year and No. 9 in the preseason poll.

COACHES: In his 12th season at IWU, Ron Rose has a 213-104 overall mark (.669) with a CCIW ledger of 100-59. Rose is third in wins at IWU, behind Dennie Bridges (667-319, 1965-01) and Jack Horenberger (264-212, 1945-65) ... In his 37th season at WashU, Mark Edwards has a 670-290 overall mark (.698) with national championships in 2008 and 2009.

THE SERIES: Dating back to 1933, IWU leads the WashU series, 22-16. The Titans have won two straight, four of the last five, and the teams are 10-10 in the last 20 games.
 
THE GAME: The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team (7-2) plays a 5 p.m. game at the Shirk Center against Wisconsin-Stevens Point (4-3) … The Pointers have a home game Friday night against Ripon College.

In the win at Eureka, Rebekah Ehresman became the 22nd player in IWU women's history to score 1,000 points, joining her classmate Molly McGraw. Ehresman has 1,023 points and McGraw has 1,290 career points, No. 7 in Titan records. She is No. 6 all-time in shots made (513) ... Ehresman ranks No. 20 in 3-pointers (81), No. 11 in free throws (262), No. 21 in rebounds (490) and No. 8 in assists (276) ... Maddie Merritt's .836 career free throw percentage is the best in an IWU uniform (224 of 268).

BEHIND ENEMY LINES: The Pointers have wins over Alverno, Simpson, Lakeland, and North Central ... Stevens Point ranks 51st in the national D-III stats in free throw percentage and is No. 71 in fewest turnovers ... Lexi Roland is No. 6 nationally with a .952 free throw percentage.

THE SERIES: Dating back to 2004, UW-Stevens Point holds a 7-5 advantage over the Titans. Illinois Wesleyan has lost each of their last two meetings against the Pointers including a 62-58 defeat last season. This is their 10th straight season meeting one another.

COACHES: Illinois Wesleyan's Mia Smith is in her 20th season and has an overall record of 371-161 (.697) with a CCIW mark of 198-73 (.730)... In her 29th season at UW-Stevens Point, Shirley Egner has an overall record of 529-229 (.697) and is the winningest coach in WIAC history.

HOME COURT: IWU has a 210-70 record at the Shirk Center and, since 2008, IWU has a home record of 93-26 (.777).
