DECATUR, Ill. -- The No. 11-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost three sets by a total of eight points in falling to Carthage in the semifinals of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin postseason tournament in Decatur, Ill., on Friday, Nov. 3.
The Titans have a record of 22-7 after losing by scores of 23-25, 28-30, 21-25 while the Lady Reds advance to Saturday's title game with a 24-8 record.
The three sets were close throughout - Illinois Wesleyan led by as many as four (9-5) in set one, by two points in set two (the last being 17-15), and last led by a 2-1 score in the third set. Carthage led by as many as four points in sets one and three and by five points in set two (7-2).
Senior 
Kyleigh Block led Illinois Wesleyan with 12 kills and 15 defensive digs while giving five assists. IWU had 38 total kills with a hitting percentage of .119 as junior 
Tyler Brown had eight kills with 14 digs and junior 
Rachel Burkman had six kills.
Junior 
Heidi Dague made a career-high eight blocks, one short of a three-set school record, with junior 
Maddie Williams and Burkman each getting five total blocks.
Sophomore 
Kira Jackson was IWU's assist leader with 16 and freshman 
Caitlin Meyer had 11 while sophomore libero 
Raina Emery had 12 digs.
Carthage finished with a .155 hitting mark, getting 43 kills in 148 attempts with 20 kills. Megan Behrendt had a match-best 16 kills and Shannon Kebisek had 11.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will await the decision of the NCAA selection committee about its inclusion in the field for the Division III volleyball championships. The selection show will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 6.
