2017 AVCA All-America Teams

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- For the second straight season, Illinois Wesleyan junior Tyler Brown has been chosen to the first team of the Division III All-American team selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Illinois Wesleyan junior Maddie Williams was one of 98 players in the country to earn honorable mention on the AVCA All-American squads.

The awards will be presented Nov. 15 at the NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet in Grand Rapids, MI at Calvin College where the 2017 AVCA Division III Player of the Year will be announced.

Among Illinois Wesleyan players previously earning postseason awards, Tiffany Hamblin (2002) and Jenna Passananti (2006) were both third team AVCA All-American honorees while Terri Friedman (AIAW 1981), Beth Crowley (2003), Molly May (2004), Michele Malinowski (2008), Emily Hagen (2008) and Kyleigh Block (2015) all earned honorable mention.

Earlier this fall, Brown was named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region Team and to the first team of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-league squads.

Brown led IWU with 424 kills and 532 digs. After three seasons, she is No. 7 all-time at the school in kills (1309) and attack attempts (3324) and No. 8 in digs (1392) Brown's 424 kills ranked No. 43 in the nation for division III volleyball.

Williams had a team-high 106 blocks with 24 solo and 82 assists in addition to her 212 kills and a team-high .299 attack percentage. Her 106 total blocks ranked No. 41 in the nation for division III volleyball.
