Titan Volleyball Sweeps Pair on Saturday at Barker Classic III

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The No. 13-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team swept a pair of three-set matches at the Barker Classic III on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Shirk Center.

The Titans went over the 20-win mark for the fourth straight season as the won their 20th game by beating Lincoln Christian, 25-9, 25-13, 25-17, then improved to 21-6 by downing Central (Iowa), 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.
Lincoln Christian slipped to 14-15 and Central's record now stands at 9-24.

Illinois Wesleyan had a .400 hitting percentage against Lincoln Christian with 42 kills in 90 attempts with six errors. Junior Tyler Brown had 13 kills and seniors Kyleigh Block and Anne Cummings had 10 and seven, respectively.

Sophomore Kira Jackson had 19 set assists and three service aces with freshman Caitlin Meyer adding 15 assists. Freshman Claire Bergman had a team-best two blocks and sophomore libero Raina Emery led the Titans with 13 digs.

Melissa Swartz, who began her college career at IWU, led the Red Lions with seven kills.

Brown had a team-high 15 kills against the Dutch along with 11 digs while Block had 12 kills and led the team with 19 digs and two blocks. Junior Rachel Burkman added 14 digs.

Meyer with 21 and Jackson with 20 led the assists for IWU, who hit .398 (47 kills in 103 tries with only six errors).

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan wraps up its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season with a game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Elmhurst College.
