Flower Edington scored two goals and sophomore
Jordan Ellerbrock provided three assists as the No. 17-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team improved to 14-3-0 with a 3-0 win over Augustana on a chilly night at Neis Field on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Illinois Wesleyan, ranked No. 17 in the
D3soccer.com poll and No. 22 in the
Unted Soccer Coaches' poll, is 6-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while Augustana fell to 8-7-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the CCIW.
Freshman
Cameron Hindel opened the scoring with her 12th tally of the year at 10:41 with assists to
Shannon Gatehouse and Ellerbrock. The Titans led 1-0 at halftime and made it 2-0 with a goal by Edington at 58:42 on helpers from senior
Rosie Pettenuzzo and Ellerbrock.
Edington, who now has seven goals this season, completed her brace with a goal at 68:32 to put IWU ahead 3-0 with Ellerbrock's third assist.
The Titans outshot the Vikings, 18-4, and had 12 shots on goal to two for Augustana, both of which were saved by IWU freshman
Kelli McCarthy.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan closes out its regular season with a 12 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 28, at North Central College in Naperville ... The Cardinals are 3-3-0 in the CCIW and 7-7-1 overall ahead of Wednesday's road game against North Park.
