SAN ANTONIO, Texas - An early goal at the 4:18 mark doomed the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team, who lost 1-0 to No. 17-ranked Hardin-Simmons University on Monday, Sept. 5. This marks the first time the Titans have lost back-to-back games since the 2014 season.
The lone goal of the game came off the foot of forward Jordan Lara who notched her first goal of the season and 28th of her career, assisting on the goal was Kami Jones. The Titans lone shot on goal opportunity came at the 80:15 mark of the second half where senior
Alison Seger's penalty shot was saved by Caitlin Christiansen.
IWU was held to seven shots total and were outshot by the Cowgirls 18-7, including a 10-1 shots on goal advantage. The Cowgirls also held a 9-1 advantage on corner kicks.
After the initial goal, sophomore
Katie Denney was superb between the posts making nine saves in her 90 minutes of work.
What's Next?
IWU continues their roadtrip on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Chicago, Ill. where they'll face-off against No. 21-ranked University of Chicago. The Maroon's are 2-0 thus far in 2016 with wins over No. 11-ranked Calvin College and Aurora University.
