LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team continued to finish their non-conference schedule with a bang on Saturday, Sept. 24, defeating Transylvania College by a final score of 1-0. IWU held a 6-to-3 shot on goal advantage in the victory.
With a win the Titans improved to 3-3-2 on the season while the Pioneers fell to 0-6-2.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Chen scored the lone goal of the contest early in the action, placing a ball past Pioneer goalkeeper Ally Barfield at the 8:54 mark of the first half. Senior
Alison Seger assisted on the play, her second assist of the season and second in her last two matches. Offensively, the Titans registered 10 shots and six shots on goal during the contest.
Noel Obata saw the best opportunities for Transylvania, taking four shots with two placed on goal.
Defensively IWU played well, allowing the Pioneers a lowly five shots throughout the action with three shots falling on goal. The Titan back line has played well as of late, helping sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Denney to shut-out four straight opponents. Denney recorded three saves to bring her season tally to 34.

The Titans conclude their non-conference schedule with a match-up against Thomas More College on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Thomas More is currently ranked No. 7 in the latest d3soccer.com polls with a record of 7-0-1. This marks the sixth ranked opponent the Titans have faced in the non-conference season.
