IWU Women's Soccer Draws In 2-OT Against No. 3-ranked WashU.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team drew their second consecutive game on Sunday, Sept. 18, tying Washington University (Mo.) 0-0 in double-overtime. This marked the second game of the weekend in which the Titans played all 110 minutes while shutting out their opponent. IWU was outshot by the Bears 20-4, including a 7-to-2 shots on goal advantage for WashU.

With a draw the Titans move to 1-3-2 on the season while the Bears are now 5-1-1 in 2016.

The Bears held a significant advantage over the Titans on corner kicks, 8-to-1. IWU senior Skyler Tomko and sophomore Rosie Pettenuzzo recorded one shot on goal in each half.

Sophomore Katie Denney pitched her second straight shutout in goal making seven saves in 110 minutes of play including two saves in overtime. Denney recorded 10 saves on 27 shots faced in 220 minutes of play for the weekend. The IWU defense played stoutly in front of Denney blocking three potential shots on goal. WashU's best chance on goal came at the 74:56 mark when Jesse Rubin bounced a shot off the crossbar.

What's Next?
The Titans will have limited time to recover from a pair of double-overtime match-ups, facing Rose Hulman Institute of Technology at home on Wednesday, Sept. 21. IWU holds an all-time record of 7-0 against Rose Hulman which includes a 1-0 victory over the Elephants in Terre Haute, Ind. last season. Kick is set for 7:00 p.m. at Neis Field.
