BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- On her birthday eve, freshman
Flower Edington got her first collegiate goal to open the season scoring and help the No. 8-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Benedictine at Neis Field on Thursday, Sept. 1.
After a scoreless first half, Edington scored on a rebound after a corner kick at 46:42 for a 1-0 IWU lead. The Titans collected two quick goals - one at 63:34 on a header from freshman

Illinois Wesleyan outshot Benedictine, 21-4, and had 12 shots on goal compared to four for the Eagles.

Illinois Wesleyan will play at preseason No. 7-nationally ranked Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 3, then play No. 17 Hardin Simmons on Monday, Sept. 5, also in San Antonio.
