BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- With a chance to stay atop the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin standings, the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team was dealt a 14-10 defeat at the hands of Carthage College at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, April 23rd. 
With the loss, IWU fell to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in the CCIW while the Red Men improved to 8-8 and stayed perfect in conference at 4-0. 
A potent Titan attack was kept in check for much of the first quarter, as Carthage would jump out to a 3-0 lead before 
Evan Mok-Lamme and 
Will Rossi broke through in the final three minutes to make the score 3-2 after 15 minutes of action. Using a quick start the second quarter, IWU took a 5-3 lead with 9:30 remaining in the first half before being outscored 3-1 to head into halftime deadlocked at six. Carthage would outscore Illinois Wesleyan 5-1 in the third quarter before both teams would find the back of the net three times in the final frame.
Sophomore 
James Maibuecher would be the only Titan to score more than one goal, netting five while picking up five ground balls. 
Goalie 
Steven Laduzinsky took the loss, making 10 saves in 60 minutes of action. 
IWU outshot the Red Men 51-40 and held 34-31 advantage in ground balls, but were 0-4 on extra-man opportunities. Faceoffs were 14-13 in favor of the Titans, who were successful on 16-of-17 clears.

A crucial game awaits Illinois Wesleyan at Augustana on Wednesday, April 27th at 7 p.m. The Vikings are a game ahead of the Titans in the CCIW standings at 3-0 after a 10-6 victory at Elmhurst on Saturday.Â
