BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Using a season high 24 goals, the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team beat visiting Hope College by a score of 24-12 in a nonconference match at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, March 5.
The win gives the Titans a record of 2-1 overall while the Flying Dutchmen remain winless at 0-3 on the season.
Both IWU and Hope traded goals for the first 23-plus minutes of the game, which saw the score at 5-5 with 6:52 remaining in the first half. Illinois Wesleyan then closed out the second quarter by outscoring the Flying Dutchmen 5-0 to take a 10-5 lead at the half.
The Titans would pick up where they left off by scoring 13 goals in the third quarter to take a commanding 23-8 lead heading into the final period. IWU was outscored 4-1 in the final period, scoring their last goal with 12:51 left in the game.

Tim Smith scored a school-record eight goals and added three assists while junior
Michael Julius found the back of the net five times. Junior
Evan Mok-Lamme (4) and
James Maibuecher (3) were the other two Titans to score two-plus goals with four others each netting one goal.

Steven Laduzinsky played the first 45 minutes of the game, making six saves while allowing eight goals to earn the win. Sophomore
Mark Dezell would play the last 15 minutes in relief, allowing four goals while making seven saves.
