BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team built a four-goal advantage after the first quarter and made it hold up despite a late threat in a 16-10 nonconfrence win over visiting Hendrix College at Tucci Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 28.
The win evens the IWU record at 1-1 while Hendrix fell to 1-4. IWU had a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and took a 7-2 edge into the halftime break. With the Titans eading 13-4 going into the final period, the Warriors' offense caught a spark and scored six fourth quarter goals to narrow the gap but failed to close it completely.

The Titans had 10 assists for their 16 goals with Julius leading the way with four.
Junior goalkeeper
Steven Laduzinsky made 15 saves as Hendrix outshot IWU 45-44 and had 25 shots on goal compared to 28 for the Titans. The teams were even with 14 faceoffs each and IWU collected 44 ground balls to 36 for the Warriors.
Hendrix was led in scoring by the two goals each from Alex Ortenstone, Travis Rabun and Cole Cramer. Dennis O'Hara (26 minutes) and Joe Takacs (34 minutes) split time in goal, allowing six and 10 goals, respectively.
What's Next?Illinois Wesleyan hosts Hope College on Saturday, March 5, in a 1 p.m. faceoff at Tucci Stadium. The Flying Dutchmen are 0-1 with a 12-11 loss at Millsaps heading into a Friday night game at Elmhurst before coming to Bloomington ... Hope is coming off a 2015 season in which the Flying Dutchmen posted a 6-10 overall record. Hope tied for fourth in the preseason Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association coaches' poll.
