Titan Women Roll to Win at Home Over Augustana

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team opened the second half on an 18-2 run to grab a 27-point lead and never looked back in a 79-57 win over Augustana at the Shirk Center on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

The Titans improved to 14-9 overall and remained tied for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin lead with a 9-3 record. The win also clinches a berth for Illinois Wesleyan in the CCIW postseason tournament. The Vikings fell to 10-13 overall and 5-7 in the league.

The Titans led 42-31 at halftime and went on the 18-2 swing to start the third period to claim a 61-33 lead with 6:46 remaining. IWU eventually led by as many as 32 (70-38) with 1:39 left in the third.

Sophomore Molly McGraw scored 22 points and was 10-of-16 from the field to pace the Titans, while junior Gabby Weber added a season-best 13 points with five rebounds and sophomore Rebekah Ehresman netted 11. McGraw also had four of IWU's 10 steals and junior Alina Lehocky snagged a game-high nine rebounds as Illinois Wesleyan outrebounded Augie, 43-37.

The Titans also managed to score 28 points off the 27 Viking turnovers and outscored Augustana by a 42-26 margin in the lane. IWU was guilty of 16 turnovers that led to 12 Viking points.

Junior Kaycee Kallenberger and freshman Sadie Roberts each had 12 points and six rebounds to lead the Vikings. The Vikings' season scoring leader Marissa Pezzopane was held to seven points, eight below her average.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will host North Park at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.
