BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 16-ranked Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team lost their second consecutive game on Wednesday, Dec. 7, falling to No. 18-ranked North Park by a final score of 72-68. Senior
Trevor Seibring led the Titans with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting alongside a team-high nine rebounds and three blocks.
With a loss the Titans fall to 5-2 (0-2 CCIW) on the season, with both losses coming against ranked opponents in conference play. North Park stays undefeated at 6-0 (2-0 CCIW) with a win.
Senior
Alec Bausch and sophomore
Nick Coleman followed Seibring's lead with 12 of their own. Bausch went a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor which included two from beyond the arc. Thanks to their efforts the Titans received an all-around solid effort from the bench, outscoring North Park 30-28.
Illinois Wesleyan shot a blazing 58.3 percent from the floor in the first half, despite entering the locker room down 43-35 at halftime. North Park forced the Titans into nine first half turnovers, scoring 18 points off of them. The Titans had no answer for Jordan Robinson, who tallied 21 first half points for the Vikings on 8-of-11 shooting.
IWU stymied Robinson in the second half, holding him to just seven points and forcing him into three turnovers.
After North Park went up by 10 points with 16:10 remaining in the game, the Titans went on a 14-5 run to bring them within one point. The Vikings would lead by as many as eight points through the remainder of the game, but once again the Titans fought back. A layup from
Brady Rose with 34 ticks left on the clock brought the Titans within three points.
Unfortunately for the Titans, North Park's late free-throw shooting alongside a costly turnover was just enough for them to secure victory in the waning moments.
What's Next?
