Hot-Shooting Titans Down No. 8 Ohio Wesleyan, 88-70

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Illinois Wesleyan shot 58 percent from the field and got 21 points from senior Andy Stempel and 20 points from junior Brady Rose to earn an 88-70 win at No. 8-ranked Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 26, in Delaware, Ohio.

The win gives Illinois Wesleyan a 5-0 record for the first time since the 2010-11 season when the Titans won their first six games to start 6-0. The second straight loss sends the Bishops to 2-2.

Illinois Wesleyan had a 12-10 lead with 13:53 to go in the first half before going on a 17-4 run to take a 29-14 advantage with 9:39 remaining. During that stretch IWU hit eight consecutive shots and the Bishops never got closer than 12 the rest of the way, trailing by as many as 33 with 4:13 left in the game (86-53).

Stempel was eight of 10 from the field and connected on 5 of 7 3-point tries while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds, equalling a career high. The 20 points from Rose is a career best, topping the mark of 18 he set against Dominican earlier this season.
Senior Trevor Seibring added 14 points and senior Alec Bausch made all four of his field goal tries and both of his free throws to finish with 12 points and gathered in eight boards. Sophomore Colin Bonnett paced IWU with eight assists.

Ohio Wesleyan shot .379 from the field (25 of 66) and launched 41 3-point tries, connecting on 11 for a .268 percentage. Seth Clark led the Bishops with 14 points, while freshman guard Carter Kinnaird finished with 11 points.
