IWU Improves To 3-0 In CCIW Action With 3-0 Victory Over Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team improved to 3-0 in CCIW action on Saturday, Oct. 8 with a 3-0 victory over the Elmhurst College Bluejays. Sophomore Rosie Pettenuzzo tallied her second goal of the season to open the scoring for the Titans. Her goal would later prove to be the game-winner.

With a victory the Titans improved to 6-4-2 overall while Elmhurst fell to 8-4-0 with a 1-3-0 record in the CCIW.

Pettenuzzo got the ball rolling for IWU scoring the game's first goal on a misplay from a Bluejay defender. Elmhurst's defender headed the ball out to the sophomore who put it in the back of the net from eight yards out.

Senior Alison Seger gave the Titans a commanding 2-0 lead in the 58th minute, striking a ball from 25 yards out well enough that the keeper couldn't fully gain control of it before rolling into the back of the net.

Freshman Kaitlyn Chen put the nail in the Bluejays coffin in the 84th minute, collecting a rebound off a saved shot from freshman Flower Edington who notched her first assist of the season.
