Titan Women Lose Exhibition Game at D-II Quincy, 69-63

QUINCY, Ill. -- Junior Molly McGraw poured in a game-high 24 points but the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team lost an exhibition game at Division II Quincy University, 69-63, at the Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill., on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Junior Rebekah Ehresman scored 16 points and snared a team-leading eight rebounds and sophomore Maddie Merritt added 13 points.

IWU scored the first 10 points of the game and had an 18-14 lead after one quarter but was outscored 17-8 in the second quarter. Quincy tied the game at 18-18 and IWU's last lead was 21-20 with 4:32 to play before halftime. Quincy never trailed in the second half and had a lead as large as 12 at 60-48 with 3:53 to play in the game.

The Lady Hawks held a 46-30 rebounding edge on Illinois Wesleyan as Sarah Schumacher had a game-best 10 boards to go with her 10 points. Quincy was led by Nikia Edom with 19 points and Anika Webster with 13.

Illinois Wesleyan forced the Lady Hawks into 27 turnovers and scored 25 points off turnovers. IWU shot 32 percent from the field (21 of 65) and made only 18 percent (4 of 22) of their 3-point tries. The Lady Hawks were 23 of 51 (45 percent) from the floor, made 6 of 15 from beyond the arc and hit 17 of their 21 free throw attempts.

What's Next?
The Titans open their season on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a 3 p.m. game against Luther College in a tournament at Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
