BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team lost an overtime heartbreaker to Wheaton College on Saturday, Oct. 15 by a final score of 1-0. Junior Max Carey scored in the 100th minute to win the game for Wheaton.
With a loss the Titans fall to 6-6-1 on the season with a 2-2 record in the CCIW while Wheaton improved to 4-7-3 and 2-3 in CCIW play.
Despite a 0-0 tie in regulation, the Titans were outmatched by the Thunder throughout the afternoon. IWU mustered up seven total shots on the day compared to 17 for Wheaton. Sophomore goalkeeper
Eddie Sanchez was forced to make six saves during the contest.
Freshman
Orion Marty recorded the Titans lone shot on goal of the game during the overtime period.
For the Thunder, Carey placed two shots on goal during the contest prior to scoring the game-winner.
What's Next?
The Titans now enter a three-game road trip first playing Millikin University on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7:00 p.m. Millikin currently holds an overall record of 7-3-2.
