BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Two goals a little more than a minute apart provided the winning margin as the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated Carroll University, 2-1, on Homecoming at Neis Field on Saturday, Oct. 1.
The Titans improved to 4-4-2 overall and won their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener while the Pioneers are now 7-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCIW.
Senior
Alison Seger opened the scoring at the 77:39 mark and senior
Skyler Tomko followed just 68 seconds later (78:47) to stake the Titans to a 2-0 lead.
Rachel Van Sluys got the Pioneers' only goal with just 14 seconds to play in the match (89:46).
The Titans outshot Carroll, 19-6, and had 10 shots on goal compared to six for Carroll. IWU sophomore keeper
Katie Denney made four saves and Carroll's Christina O'Block had eight saves.

CCIW competition continues next week for Illinois Wesleyan as the Titans face North Park on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. on Neis Field.
