BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team was outscored 10-3 during a key second half stretch and lost by a 77-60 score to the No. 3-ranked Augustana Vikings at the Shirk Center on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Illinois Wesleyan slipped to 3-3 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play and 9-8 overall while the Vikings improved to 16-1 this season and 5-1 in the league.
The Titans, who had a 30-28 halftime lead and led by four at 32-28 after the first bucket of the second half, trailed by a 46-45 score with 10:54 left in the game when the Vikings went on the 10-3 run to claim a 56-48 lead with 9:05 left. The closest Illinois Wesleyan got after that was five on two occasions but the Vikings shot .593 from the floor in the final period (16 of 27) and made 12 of 13 second half free throws.

Ryan Coyle led IWU with 17 points and junior
Trevor Seibring scored 15 points and snared a team-high eight rebounds. Seibring was seven-of-eight from the field and Coyle made seven of his 11 field goal attempts. The 3-pointer kept IWU in the game as the Titans made 10 of 23 attempts.
The Vikings, who outscored IWU 42-22 in the paint, got a game-high 22 points from Ben Ryan, 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds from Brandon Motzel and 11 points from Griffin Pils. Ryan also collected nine boards as the Vikings outrebounded the Titans, 41-29 including a 17-10 edge in the second half.
What's Next?Illinois Wesleyan travels to Chicago to meet the North Park Vikings in a 7 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Vikings are 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the CCIW after a 91-88 loss in overtime at Elmhurst on Wednesday.
