BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The third annual Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer "Play for the Cure" game will be Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. against Augustana at IWU's Neis Field. Proceeds from all events will benefit the Bloomington-Normal Ciommunity Cancer Center.
Among the items in the silent auction will be:
• Signed jersey by members of the Houston Dash of the Women's Professional Soccer League. Players Carli Lloyd, Morgan Brien, Meghan Klingenberg from the USA National Team have all signed the jersey and other notable signatures include Erin McLeod (Canadian National goalkeeper), Ella Masar (former University of Illinois player) and Brittany Bock (from Naperville).
• Hockey puck by autographed by Chicago Blackhawks player Niklas Hjalmarsson.
• Pair of tickets to see the Chicago Bulls play the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Among the raffle items are a signed soccer ball, signed Illinois Wesleyan jersey, and gift certificates from local vendors.
The 9-1-0 Titans are ranked No. 9 in the latest NSCAA Division III poll and No. 8 in the d3soccer.com poll while the Vikings, who are 8-2, are No. 25 in the d3soccer.com poll. Saturday will be the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener for both teams.
