Fox Nets Three in No. 4 Titans Shutout Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Senior Sydney Fox found the back of the net three times in the first half as the No. 4-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team had little trouble shutting out Illinois College 7-0 at Neis Soccer Field on Thursday, Sept. 17.

IWU remains perfect with a 7-0-0 record while the Lady Blues fell to 3-3-0 on the season.

Sophomore Skyler Tomko opened the scoring up for the Titans in the 13th minute (12:01) off an assist from senior Tess Bottorff for her fifth goal of the season. Fox then reeled off three straight goals (20:25, 28:08, 30:37) in a little more than 10 minutes of game time to net the hat trick and put the game out of reach.

The second half featured three IWU goals starting with junior Allison Seger's first goal of the season coming at the 65:58 mark to put Ill. Wesleyan up 5-0. The Titans would net an own goal in the 74th minute (73:52) before Amanda Kaiser found the back of the net for her second goal of the season in the 76th minute (75:55).

Three Titan goalies saw action and faced only a single shot on the night as freshman Katie Denney played the entire first half before giving way to Dana Jourdan to start the second half. Jourdan would make one save on the only shot IWU gave up all night, playing 34 minutes before Shannon Green would close out the final 11 minutes.
