Pat Mollo in the first inning but only got five hits the rest of the way in a 3-2 loss to Carthage in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament at Zimmerman Field in Naperville, Ill., on Friday, May 8.
The No. 3-seed Titans are 25-15 and will play North Central (26-15) at 11 a.m. Saturday. The winner of that elimination game will advance to take on unbeaten Carthage later Saturday afternoon. No. 1-seed North Central stayed alive with a 13-1 hammering of No. 2-seed Wheaton earlier Friday.
Mollo had another hit in addition to the homer and other Titan hits, all singles, came from shortstop
Jarrod Juskiewicz, freshman leftfielder
Mike Plecki, and seniors
Tim Coonan and
Derek Idstein at the top of the order.
Senior starter
John Munyon (4-3) took the loss as he allowed all three runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 8 1/3 innings.
