IWU Baseball Closes Out North Park, 4-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Senior second baseman Derek Idstein had four hits with a two-run home run and five Illinois Wesleyan pitchers limited North Park to four hits in a 4-1 win at Horenberger Field on Wednesday, April 8.

The Titans improved to 16-6 overall and 7-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings slipped to 11-14 and 1-8 in the league.

With the Titans ahead 1-0 in the third inning, Idstein parked a homer over the leftfield fence to score leftfiender Adam Glogovsky, who had singled to lead off the inning. No other Titan had more than one hit as the team collected nine.

Sophomore starting pitcher Kyle Snedeker improved to 3-0 as he went the first five shutout innings, scattering two hits and striking out six while walking one. Dan Truesdale worked a perfect ninth inning to notch his sixth save of the spring. The school season record for saves is eight by John Wantiez in 2006.
