Box Score GALESBURG, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team put up eight runs in the fourth inning and went on to a 12-3 nonconference win over Knox College at Blodgett Field in Galesburg, Ill., on Tuesday, April 7.
The Titans improved to 15-6 overall and the Prairie Fire slipped to 6-11.
In the fourth the Titans got six hits, two walks and were aided by three errors. In the game, junior first baseman
Matthew Mardis got three hits and drove home two runs while shortstop
Jarrod Juskiewicz, freshman third baseman
Gino Cavalieri and sophomore rightfielder
Nick Huskisson each collected two hits with Huskisson rapping out a pair of doubles.
Senior second baseman
Derek Idstein, who had one hit and coaxed two walks, tied a school game record (held by many) with four runs scored.
Starting pitcher
Mitch Goll (1-0) got the win, working the first 3 2/3 innings and allowing one run on two hits with three walks and a strikeout.
What's Next?Weather permitting, the Titans will host North Park at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin single game.
