First Inning Lifts Titans to 8-2 Win over North Central

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan improved to 14-4 with an 8-2 victory over College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe North Central at Horenberger Field in Bloomington, Ill. on Friday, April 3.

IWU is now the last undefeated team in conference play at 6-0 while the Cardinals now sit at 3-3 in the CCIW and 10-10 overall. 


The Titans jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, and would add two runs in the fifth to go with one run in both the seventh and eighth inning. North Central would be limited to two runs on seven hits, with one run each coming in the second and third innings. 

Senior righthander John Munyon (3-1) went seven innings on the mound to get the win while sophomore Louis Acklin and senior Dan Truesdale each worked an inning in relief.

Senior Derek Idstein and junior Matthew Mardis each had three hits and combined to score four of the Titans eight runs. Mardis also had two RBI's while freshman Josh Kuntz went two-for-four with a double and one run batted in.

What's Next?
The Titans and Cardinals will play a doublheader in Naperville tomorrow with game one scheduled to be a 7-inning game with a start time of 12 p.m. Game two is scheduled for 9-innings and will take place 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
