KENOSHA, Wis. - Trailing 8-5 at the end of the third quarter, the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team scored three goals to force overtime before allowing the game-winning goal to be scored with one second left in the OT period to lose 9-8 at Carthage on Saturday, April 18.

The Titans now sit at 10-5 and 3-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Red Men improved to 12-3 and take possession of first-place in the CCIW at 3-0.

Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard for the first 11 minutes of the game until sophomore Evan Mok-Lamme scored with 3:53 left in the quarter to put the Titans up 1-0. Carthage would answer with a goal of their own to knot the score at one after 15 minutes of play and would outscore IWU 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 4-2 halftime lead. The Red Men extended their lead to 8-5 at the end of the third quarter before the Titans would score three unnassisted goals including two from sophomore Michael Julius to force extra time. IWU would get off five shots in the overtime period before Carthage would gain posession of the ball and net the game-winner with one second remaining.

Julius was one of three Titans to score two goals in the game to go along with freshmen Alex Lambert and Nick Winter. Mok-Lamme converted on his only shot of the game while Colin Daly scored the only other Titan goal.

IWU goalkeeper Steven Laduzinsky made 17 saves in 64 minutes of action in goal.

Carthage outshot the Titans 50-30 and held a 34-21 advantage in ground balls. The Red Men won 16 of 20 faceoffs, but were guilty of 13 turnovers compared to 11 for IWU.
