Titans Start Spring Trip with 15-11 Loss at Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team dropped its opening game of their 2015 spring break trip 15-11 to Randolph College on Saturday, March 7 at WildCat Stadium. The loss drops the Titans to 1-2 overall on the season while the Wildcats improve to 2-0 this year. 

IWU led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter thanks in part to goals from Tim Smith, Max Porter and Michael Julius. The Titans would manage to hold their two goal lead at halftime, with the score 6-4 in favor of IWU. 

Randolph would outscore the Titans 5-3 in the third quarter to knot the score up at nine each before scoring a flurry of six goals in the final quarter compared to only two for the Titans to secure the 15-11 victory. 

Illinois Wesleyan got four goals from Smith and three goals from Winter and Julius. Max Porter scored the only other goal for the Titans while also picking up a game-high 13 ground balls. 

The Titans outshot the Wildcats, 37-36, and IWU had 39 ground balls to 27 for Randolph. Ill. Wesleyan was guilty of 18 turnovers compared to 21 for the Wildcats,  while also winning 15 of 27 faceoffs. 

Goalkeeper Reagan Penner had 11 saves for the Titans and Cam Davis made 11 saves for Randolph.

What's Next?
The Titans continue their 2015 spring road trip by traveling to Frostburg State on Monday, March 9 at 4 p.m. (ET). The Bobcats are 4-0 this season and are coming off a 14-9 upset of No. 16 Washington College on Saturday.
