BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team got wins of 1-0 and 9-5 against Elmhurst to open 2015 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play at Horenberger Field on Saturday, March 28.

The Titans improved to 10-4 overall and the Bluejays fell to 5-8.

In game one, the Titans scored the game's only run in the fifth inning when sophomore Jarrod Juskiewicz led off the inning with a long triple that soared over the centerfielder's head and came in to score on freshman third baseman Gino Cavalieri's single.

Senior starter John Munyon (2-1) got the mound win for the IWU, allowing just four hits and striking out seven in seven innings. Senior Dan Truesdale pitched a perfect ninth to notch his fourth save of the season.

In the second game, the Titans opened up a 0-0 game in the fourth by scoring five runs on seven hits and sending 11 hitters to the plate. The Titans plated three more runs in the fifth inning and a single run in the sixth to go ahead  9-0.

Offensively, Cavalieri, who had two more RBI, and catcher Pat Mollo each had three hits to lead IWU and Mollo cracked a solo home run in the sixth. Juskiewicz also knocked home a pair of runs.

Senior starter Matt Hart (2-0) was the winning hurler, throwing 5 1/3 innings and allowing two unearned runs on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts. The Bluejays threatened in the last of the ninth, scoring a run and loading the bases to get the tying run to the plate with just one out, but Truesdale came on in relief to get a strikeout and a groundout to earn his fifth save of the year and second of the day.
