JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The No. 6-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team fell behind 6-0 after two innings and was unable to complete a comeback in a 6-5 loss at Illinois College on Thursday, March 26 in Jacksonville, Ill.

The Titans slip to 12-2 while the Lady Blues improved to 5-5.

Illinois College scored three runs in both the first and second innings thanks in part to two walks and an error to go along with two hits. IWU would be limited to only four hits through the first four innings, struggling to push any runs across against the Illinois College defense.

With the Lady Blues ahead 6-0 heading into the top of the fifth, IWU got on the board thanks in part to a two-runs batted in triple by freshman Amanda Lack followed by a Katie Caulfield RBI single. The Titans would push across two more runs in the sixth inning to close within one run at 6-5, but could not complete the comeback going 1-2-3 in the seventh to end the game.

IWU freshman Stephanie Prentice (0-2) was the losing pitcher, going 1 2/3 innings giving up five runs (three earned) on one hit and four walks while striking out one. Mackenzie Marquis pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief, giving up one run on one hit while striking out five. Senior Chloe Montgomery (one inning) also saw action on the mound for the Titans.
