Men's Lacrosses Breezes Past Carroll 18-1



BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team won their first-ever College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match with a 18-1 win over Carroll University at Tucci Statium on Tuesday, March 17.

IWU improved to 3-4 with the win while the Pioneers fell to 0-2 in their first year of competition. 

Alex Lambert led all scorers with four goals while Tim Smith, Michael Julius and Nick Winter each recorded three goals. Lambert added five assists to go with his four-goal game while Smith and Winter had two assists each. Jacob Perry (two goals, two assists), Colin Daly (one goal, three assists), Connor Coffey (one goal, one assist), and Evan Mok-Lamme (one goal, one assist) were also in the scoring column for the Titans. 

The Titans led 6-1 after the first period and took an 11-1 lead into the locker room at halftime. IWU would not allow a Pioneer goal after falling behind 1-0 with 12:59 left in the first period, outscoring Carroll 18-0 in the last 57 minutes of game time. 

Mark Dezell improved to 1-1 as he allowed one goals and made one save in 15 minutes. Jordan Staley (30:00), Reagan Penner (8:54) and Steven Laduzinsky (6:06) also saw time in goal for the Titans.

IWU outshot Carroll, 32-2, and were successful on their only extra-man opportunity leading to a goal. The Titans also held a 44-23 advantage in ground balls, forcing the Pioneers into 25 turnovers while the Titans were guilty of 19.

Illinois Wesleyan will play a non-conference road game at Olivet College on Saturday, March 21 with a scheduled start time of 3 p.m. (ET).
