TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Limited to only seven points in the first quarter, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball lost in non-conference action at Rose-Hulman 70-46 at Hulbert Arena in Terre Haute, Ind., on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
IWU is now 3-3 overall while Rose-Hulman improved to 4-1 on the season.
After falling behind 23-7 after 10 minutes of action, the Titans only mustered nine second quarter points and trailed the Fightin' Engineers 42-16 at halftime. The second half was a much different story as Illinois Wesleyan held their own in the third quarter, getting outscored 16-15 before outscoring Rose-Hulman 15-12 in the final quarter to fall by a score 70-46.

Rebekah Ehresman led all scorers with 18 points and had three rebounds and three assists. Junior
Gabrielle Holness added eight points while freshman
Maddie Merritt scored all seven of her points from the charity stripe. Rose-Hulman was led by Kristen Belyea, who had 14 points with nine of those points coming off of three-point field goals.
IWU was outrebounded by Rose-Hulman 38-26 including a 31-18 deficit in defensive rebounds. The Engineers scored 24 points off of 22 Titan turnovers compared to only 11 points for Illinois Wesleyan off of 28 Rose-Hulman turnovers.
What's Next?IWU concludes a season-opening seven game road trip with a 1 p.m. game at the University of Chicago on Saturday, Dec. 5. The Maroons (4-1) are ranked No. 19 in the Dec. 1 USA TODAY Sports Division III Top 25 women's basketball poll.
