CHICAGO, Ill. - Shooting a dismal 25.9 percent from the field, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team found themselves on the wrong end of a 67-39 loss to No. 19-ranked Chicago at the Ratner Center on Saturday, Dec. 5.
Illinois Wesleyan slipped to 3-4 overall with all seven games coming on the road while the host Maroons improved their record to 5-1 on the season.
The Titans kept pace with Chicago in the first quarter as both teams scored 11 points each before the Maroons broke the game open in the second quarter to take a 29-22 lead at halftime. IWU was held to only eight points in the frame and nine fourth quarter points, getting outscored 38-17 in the second half.
Sophomore
Rebekah Ehresman was the only Titan in double figures, scoring 10 points while adding three rebounds. IWU forced 33 Chicago turnovers resulting in 20 points while the Maroons forced 27 turnovers that turned into 35 points. Chicago outrebounded Illinois Wesleyan 39-29 and had 30 bench points compared to only 17 bench points for Illinois Wesleyan.

Illinois Wesleyan will play their first game of the season in the friendly confines of the Shirk Center when they play host to Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. The Pointers are 3-2 this season heading into Saturday evening's contest at No. 23 Carthage.
