2015 CoSIDA All-America® Women's Soccer Selections

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University junior forward Skyler Tomko has been elected to the third team of the 2015 Academic All-America ® Division III women's soccer squads.

Tomko becomes the 118th Illinois Wesleyan Academic All-American ® since the program began in 1970, a total that is tied for 23rd among all participating colleges and universities, regardless of NCAA division. She is the second IWU women's soccer player to earn the honor and first since Ann Barnard was elected to the second team in 2003. The complete list of IWU Academic All-Americans ® is available here.

The 2015 Academic All-American ® women's soccer teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.

Tomko (Lisle, Ill., Lisle HS), who has a 3.96 grade-point average as a nursing major, was elected to the Academic All-District® 7 Division III women's soccer team the past two seasons.
She was a first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection this fall and earned second team all-CCIW honors as a sophomore.
This season Tomko has 10 goals and one assist for 21 points, third on the team for the No. 7-ranked Titans, who are 20-2-0 and play Wis.-Whitewater in the NCAA Division III sectional semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in St. Louis.
Tomko ranks No. 9 in Illinois Wesleyan career records with 31 goals, No. 13 with 69 points and No. 9 with six game-winning goals.
As a sophomore she had four goals in a match to tie a school record and scored the fastest game-opening goal in IWU history, connecting 19 seconds into the NCAA semifinal match vs. Lynchburg.

This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America ® program as CoSIDA recognizes four teams - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants. Previously, CoSIDA recognized a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I); with the four teams, CoSIDA has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.

The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
