BLOOMINGTON, lll. -- The No. 9-nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team posted a 2-0 nonconference shutout win over DePauw at Neis Field on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The Titans, winners for the fourth straight game, improved to 11-1-0 this season while the Tigers slipped to 5-5-1.
Illinois Wesleyan junior forward
Alison Seger opened the scoring at 34:13 on a breakaway unassisted goal that found the upper left corner of the net. Ot was Seger's third goal of the season.
Titan freshman forward
Nathalie Orozco tacked on the final goal, her second of the year, at 73:15 on an assist from Seger.
Freshman goalkeeper
Katie Denney made two saves in recording her sixth shutout of the season.
Illinois Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 23-5, and had 11 shots on goal to two for the Tigers.
NOTES: The victory gets IWU head coach
David Barrett closer to career win #200. In his 15th season he has an overall record of 196-72-32 ... Denney's 0.27 goals-against average so far this year is the best in an IWU season (3 goals against in 983:21 minutes). The current record is 0.46 by Alli Novak in 2008 (10 goals against in 1,949 minutes).
