No. 7 Titans Finish CCIW Slate 7-0 Following 4-1 Road Victory

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – For the first time in school history, the No. 7-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team finished a perfect 7-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 4-1 road victory over North Central College at Bendetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville on Saturday, Oct. 31.

IWU finishes the regular season with a 17-1-0 record and unblemished 7-0-0 in the CCIW while the host Cardinals are eliminated from postseason tournament contention with the loss fell to 7-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play.

The Titans struck early with junior Skyler Tomko's ninth goal of the year just 1:26 into the game with the assist coming from Sarah Trach. Trach would make the score 2-0 in the 22nd minute (21:26) with a goal coming from Sydney Fox and Tess Bottorff to give Illinois Wesleyan a 2-0 lead at intermission.

North Central would cut the lead in half off a penalty kick at the 60:22 mark before IWU responded just 1:27 later with Bottorff finding the back of the net and the assist being credited to Trach. Leading 3-1 in the final minutes, Alison Seger would add the exclamation point with her fifth goal of the year at the 86:16 mark to give the Titans a 4-1 victory. The four goals is the fifth time this season that Illinois Wesleyan has scored four or more goals in a game.

Freshman Katie Denney went the full 90 minutes in net for the Titans, making three saves while only giving up one goal on a penalty kick.
