Late Goals Propel #8 Titans to 2-0 Win at North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The No. 8-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team got two goals in the final 14 minutes to collect a 2-0 win over North Park at the Holmgren Athletic Complex in Chicago on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
 
With six straight wins and three straight shutouts, the Titans are now 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings slipped to 5-8 overall and 0-3 in the CCIW.
 
IWU's first goal came at 77:47 from Amanda Kaiser, her third of the year, on an assist from senior Sydney Fox. The Titans' final tally was at the 86:16 mark when freshman Cici Gazder got her first goal of the season as she knocked the ball in from 10 yards out after an assist from junior Alison Seger.
 
Illinois Wesleyan outshot North Park 27-1 and had 12 shots on goal to one for the Vikings. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Denney made the one save and logged her eighth shutout of the year.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? Illinois Wesleyan plays at No. 17-ranked Wheaton College (11-3, 3-0 CCIW) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Thunder has won six in a row coming into Saturday's contest.
 
NOTES: Illinois Wesleyan coach David Barrett is two wins from 200 with a career mark of 198-72-32 (.709 winning percentage). His CCIW-only mark is 70-22-9 (.738 percent) ... The  0.25 goals against average by Denney (3 goals allowed in 1073 minutes) is currently the best-ever in an IWU season, ahead of the record of 0.46 set by Alli Novak (10 goals allowed in 1949 minutes in 2008) ... With eight shutouts, Denney is tied for sixth most in an IWU campaign with Emily Castner, who had eight in 2005 ... Fox's assist gives her 13 in her career and she is currently No. 12 all-time at Illinois Wesleyan with 69 career points (28 goals, 13 assists).
